Earlier Tonight

Just Putting it out there...

Shaw’s tonight-
2 Cinnamon Toast Crunch (printable Q’s)
2 Nature Valley Granola snacks (printable Q’s)
2 Newman’s Own black-bean and corn salsa (printable Q’s on Newman’s Own site)
**all 6 Q’s thus far doubled**
1 Turkey Hill Farm Ice Cream ($1 Q from old RP)
And 1 CAT coupon for a free gallon of milk from cereal and granola bar purchase, to be used next trip.

Retail value: easily over $20
Tonight I paid $9.19
That is REAL couponing

T.V. Hype

I talk to a lot of people who see the TLC’s Extreme Couponing and want to know why they can’t accomplish what they are seeing on TV. The answer is simple. The grocery stores in the south, and the west, for example, Publix, or Safeway have almost an unlimited double couponing policy. Their restriction on how many coupons you can use, and double on the same product are almost non-existent in some stores. Whereas here, especially at Shaw’s, you can only double 6 coupons per transaction that are under $1, and only 4 of those 6 can be for the same product.

This is why I stress that if it is at all possible and conducive to your schedule and gas mileage,  you should consider breaking up that large, once a week grocery haul, into two smaller ones. This will do two things.

1: It will maximize the number of coupons that you can double on a weekly basis.

2: Believe it or not, it will cut down on impulsive shopping. Or at least it did for me.

When you walk into the store on a mission, you got your coupons, and maybe even a couple back-up coupons just in case, you are less likely to stray from the plan when you know that the goal is to get a certain amount of groceries for SO MUCH LESS!! I don’t know any other way to explain it than the feeling of “SCORE!” Once you get used to “SCORE”, you will never shop any other way.
